Itinerary

Bienvenue à Nice!

Upon arrival at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport or Nice train station, you’ll be met by your private driver and transferred to your premium hotel in the heart of Nice, the elegant Mediterranean city.

The remainder of the day is yours to begin discovering why Nice has captivated artists, writers and travellers for generations.

Take a leisurely stroll along the famous Promenade des Anglais, wander through the colourful lanes of Vieux Nice (Old Town), browse local boutiques, or simply relax with a glass of Provençal rosé overlooking the sparkling Mediterranean Sea.

Your accommodation has been carefully selected for its comfort and excellent location, allowing you to explore the city at your own pace.

This evening, meet your fellow travellers over a relaxed welcome dinner and enjoy your first taste of Southern France.

A day of spectacular coastal scenery, medieval villages and Riviera glamour.

After breakfast, meet your local English-speaking guide and set off on one of the most scenic drives in France along the legendary Côte d’Azur.

Your first stop is the enchanting hilltop village of Èze, one of the Riviera’s most beautiful medieval villages. Perched high above the Mediterranean, its narrow cobbled streets, stone houses, artisan boutiques and breathtaking panoramic views make it an unforgettable experience.

From here, continue into the Principality of Monaco, the world’s second-smallest country and home to the Grimaldi family for more than 700 years.

Explore the charming streets of Monaco’s Old Town, admire the Prince’s Palace, visit Monaco Cathedral where Princess Grace Kelly rests, and soak up the unique atmosphere of this remarkable principality.

The afternoon is dedicated to glamorous Monte Carlo, famous for its elegant casino, luxury boutiques, magnificent hotels and world-famous Formula One Grand Prix circuit. You’ll even follow sections of the legendary race track as you drive through the city.

After an unforgettable day discovering the jewels of the French Riviera, return to Nice along the scenic coastal road, with the evening free to enjoy the city at your own pace.

Discover the authentic heart of the Côte d’Azur.

Discover the authentic heart of the Côte d’Azur.

Today’s journey combines glamour, perfume, spectacular scenery and some of France’s most beautiful villages.

Begin in the famous seaside resort of Cannes, internationally known for its prestigious Film Festival. Stroll along the elegant Boulevard de la Croisette, admire the luxury yachts, boutique shopping and magnificent Belle Époque hotels that have made Cannes synonymous with Riviera sophistication.

Next, travel inland to Grasse, recognised as the perfume capital of France. During a guided visit to the historic Fragonard Perfume Factory, discover the secrets behind French perfume making before enjoying free time to explore this charming Provençal town.

Continue through the spectacular countryside to the hilltop village of Gourdon, dramatically perched above the Loup Valley. Wander its picturesque streets, admire breathtaking views across the mountains and Mediterranean coastline, and browse artisan shops showcasing local crafts and delicacies.

Your final stop is the magnificent medieval village of Saint-Paul de Vence, widely regarded as one of the most beautiful villages in France. Surrounded by ancient ramparts, this artistic haven has inspired renowned painters including Chagall, Matisse and Picasso. Explore its charming cobblestone streets lined with galleries, cafés and boutique shops before returning to Nice.

Leave the French Riviera behind and journey into the heart of Provence. Relax as the Mediterranean coastline gives way to vineyards, olive groves and the warm colours of the Provençal countryside.

Arrive in elegant Aix-en-Provence and settle into your centrally located four-star hotel. This graceful city of fountains, markets and tree-lined boulevards will be your base for the next stage of the journey.

This evening, come together for a special gourmet dinner celebrating the flavours and conviviality of Southern France.

Spend the day discovering one of France’s most prestigious wine regions with your private English-speaking driver-guide.

Travel to Châteauneuf-du-Pape, whose vineyards, distinctive stone-covered soils and historic connection with the Avignon papacy have earned it worldwide recognition. Visit carefully selected wineries and enjoy commented tastings of the appellation’s celebrated wines while learning about its grape varieties, terroir and winemaking traditions.

You will also have time to discover the historic village and admire panoramic views across the Rhône Valley.

Enjoy a full day at leisure in Aix-en-Provence. Today is Market Day! The historic streets and squares come alive with colourful stalls selling fresh local produce, artisan cheeses, olives, lavender, flowers, fabrics and handcrafted goods. Wander through the bustling markets, relax at a café beneath the plane trees of the Cours Mirabeau, discover boutique shops and art galleries, or simply soak up the relaxed Provençal atmosphere at your own pace. This is the perfect opportunity to experience everyday life in Provence and enjoy the town exactly as the locals do.

Today is a day of sea air, limestone cliffs and Provençal coastal charm.

Visit Cassis, a picturesque fishing village known for its harbour, markets, boutiques and access to the Calanques. A boat ride offers views of the famous inlets and turquoise waters, followed by time for lunch at leisure.

In the afternoon, continue via the dramatic coastal scenery around Cap Canaille before enjoying a wine tasting in the Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire area.

Taste local wines and learn about the region’s terroir and winemaking traditions before returning to Aix-en-Provence.

On the final day of your tour, journey through the beautiful landscapes of the Alpilles, beginning at the spectacular hilltop village of Les Baux-de-Provence. Wander through its medieval lanes, admire the ancient stone houses and enjoy sweeping views over the olive groves and rugged countryside.

Experience the extraordinary Carrières des Lumières, where monumental works of art are projected across the walls of a former limestone quarry in an immersive sound and light exhibition. Entrance is included.

Continue to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, a charming town known for its lively squares, Provençal boutiques and artistic heritage, closely associated with Vincent van Gogh.

Finish your journey in Arles, a UNESCO World Heritage city celebrated for its exceptional Roman monuments and its enduring connection to Van Gogh. Discover the character and history of this remarkable Provençal city before your tour comes to an end.

We hope you leave Southern France with wonderful memories of its landscapes, flavours, heritage and people. It has been our pleasure to share this beautiful part of France with you, and we look forward to welcoming you on another France Travel Solutions journey.

This was the first time I had been to France. It was a bit daunting as I can't speak the local language, other than the very basics. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip with Maud. I learned so much about wine and the making of it and we visited some very interesting places. I would recommend this trip to anyone who is interested in France and wine. In saying that I'm not a big drinker, so don't think it's just a wine tour it's more than that, you will visit interesting places and see some great castles and villages along the way. Maud will also make a detour if people are happy to try something else. I look forward to another trip again with Maud. best wishes Dennise

I had a wonderful time in France with France Travel Solutions. The tour was well designed, with a few days in each hotel. The small tour bus made it easy to get around and the group was fun. The tour leader Loick made everything easy and I would like to travel again with France Travel Solutions. Thank you Maud! Highly recommended.

My wife Natalia and I were privileged to have FTS founder Maud to escort us on the French Winter Christmas Delights small-group tour 2024. Maud's dedication to sharing the best of France's experiences and culture shines through. This tour was a delightful insight into Christmas festive spirit at Lyon (Festival of Lights), Annecy, Chamonix, Basel, the Alsace region, Champagne and Paris. It was a stress-free experience thanks to Maud's care and thoughtfulness, with the right balance between structure and free time. Although experienced travellers, we could not have managed the same itinerary as efficiently, comprehensively and happily by ourselves. Thank you, Maud.
